SENIOR CITIZENS ARE
A PRIORITY IN ARIEL

Six hundred food parcels were distributed this year in a massive pre-Passover campaign to assist Ariel's senior citizens and new immigrants to celebrate the Festival of Freedom. In a joint effort between the city's religious council and the Ariel Development Fund, the gift packages were presented to Ariel's newest citizens by Ariel Mayor Ron Nachman, Dina Shalit, Executive Director of the Ariel Development Fund, Shosh Levavi, Director of Social Services, and Lila Bernstein, Director of the Warm Hearts Club -- Ariel's Senior Citizens Center.

In addition, the Ariel Development Fund launched an unprecedented campaign to enable Ariel's seniors to receive cable television, including Russian-language programming in their homes. Largely a new immigrant population, these citizens are frequently isolated from larger society. Illness and disability make it difficult for many to leave their homes. By hooking them up to cable television, Ariel's senior citizens can become connected to a world beyond their own four walls.
